Dear members and partners,

Before the summer break, we are happy to share with you the latest news on Women on Board.

The number of nominations is our highlight of the yearly General Assembly as well as the inspiring speech by Federica Mogherini in the iconic Skyhall. General Assembly

On June 7th we were proud to have our General assembly at the BAC (Brussels Airport Company) offering the iconic building at Brussels Airport, now fully and sustainably renovated as a truly unique event location.

Sylvie van den Eynde talked us through the sustainability actions that are taking place at our National airport and this was followed by our General Assembly result/actions and finances. (ppt below).

Our Guest Speaker: Ms Federica Mogherini Rector of the College of Europe, and previously High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission told of her growth into politics, her appreciation of Belgium, now considered also her home, the steps into the European Commission and now the travels to be Rector. In the Q&A, honest and personal answers were given to the questions on Europe in the war situation, the Economy as a diplomatic partner and educating the youngsters to understand what Europe does and means to society.

The networking drink was a huge success with delicious finger food offered by BAC and catered by the Sheraton.

Thank you all for attending. It was great to see you all in such spirit and colour. Also to our Corporate partners that were there as well as some of the Executive Search companies. Networking is indeed very important in this day and age.

Capgemini

On April 21st we were happy to have our first physical meet-up and were welcomed by the Capgemini team members Deborah D’Hauwer and Robert van der Eijk in their offices in Diegem.

More than 30 people enjoyed the session given by Karin Laverge author “word CEO van je brein” & member of Women on Board. With a few exercise examples, she taught us how to take control of our breathing and distance ourselves of our daily thoughts.

This was followed by a warm interview between Karin and Heidi Rakels, ex-Olympic judo bronze winner. Heidi has been doing meditation for several years. It took a lot of focus but after a 10-day course, she now meditates 2h a day. Her life is now more under control, she seems to be able to use her time more efficiently and is less tired.
